about the parts (Frequently Asked Questions)
How may we help you?
What type of used parts can I buy at B-Parts?
We sell authentic, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) used auto parts. They are high-quality, genuine parts that cost significantly less than buying brand new, though as used parts, they may show normal signs of wear.
Our inventory is easily organized into the following categories:
Body Parts
Electronics
Lighting
Engine & Transmission
Suspension
Interior & Exterior
To find exactly what you need, we highly recommend selecting your specific vehicle first, then browsing the category you want. Before placing your order, always verify compatibility by checking our listing images, manufacturer part numbers, or the vehicle's VIN. If you are unsure, it is a great idea to double-check with a licensed mechanic or your local dealership first.
What type of parts does B-Parts NOT sell?
Even though you may see photos of complete vehicles before they are dismantled, please note that not all visible components in those images are available for purchase, and accessories are not included unless specified. All of our parts are sold separately and individually.
Additionally, because we focus on major components, we do not sell the following used parts or installation materials:
HAZMAT items
Airbags
Mounting brackets
Wear-and-tear parts
Wiring
Tubes and Hoses
Hinges and Springs
Bolts and Supports
Trim pieces
Any hardware or materials needed to install a part
Our parts are sold without accessories, as indicated in each individual product description.
Do I need to know the original part reference before buying from B-Parts?
Yes, knowing your original part number (or manufacturer reference) is highly recommended to ensure a perfect fit. Every vehicle component has a unique factory reference number, and even a tiny difference, like a single letter change at the end of a sequence, can mean the part won't work with your vehicle.
Because car manufacturers build the same model in different factories across the country, two identical-looking cars can actually use completely different original parts. To ensure compatibility before buying, we always suggest comparing the part numbers on your old unit with the ones listed on our website.
If a part number isn't available in our listing, you can still verify compatibility by carefully comparing our product images, checking the donor vehicle's VIN, or consulting a professional mechanic.
Does searching on B-Parts by license plate guarantee compatibility with my vehicle?
Not quite! When you search using a license plate, our system helps point you in the right direction by narrowing things down to your general make and model. However, it won't automatically guarantee a perfect match for your vehicle's specific trim level, model year, or exact production phase.
Car manufacturers love to update and change parts for the exact same model during its production run. Because of this, the absolute safest way to ensure a perfect fit is to match the exact part numbers on your old unit with the ones listed on our website.
If you are ever unsure or just want a second pair of eyes to double-check fitment before ordering, our friendly support team is always happy to help! Just reach out to us via live chat or phone.
What is the condition of the used parts available on B-Parts?
All parts sold by B-Parts are authentic, used OEM components. While they are a much more affordable option than buying brand new, they will show normal signs of wear and tear.Because we source our parts from different regions across the country, their cosmetic condition can vary based on where they came from. For example, a part from the Midwest might show some surface rust or salt corrosion on aluminum or iron surfaces, though this typically does not affect how the part functions.
For body and collision parts, expect to see small dings or minor paint scratches. We always do our best to note any notable imperfections in the product description or show them clearly in the listing photos. Please also keep in mind that color names and codes are not guaranteed to be an exact match due to factory paint variations and natural weathering over time.
If you ever have questions or would like to see more pictures of a specific part before buying, our friendly team is always here to help! Just send us a message via live chat or give us a call.
Are the parts sold on B-Parts tested before shipping? Are they refurbished?
No, our parts are not refurbished, they are authentic, used parts in their original condition, ready to be installed in your vehicle!
When a vehicle is dismantled at one of our certified recycling yards, only parts that are in good working condition are selected for our inventory. To give you peace of mind, major components like engines and electrical parts are tested for proper operation before they are listed, unless otherwise noted in the description.
Best of all, every single part we sell comes backed by a warranty. If something isn't working exactly as it should, our friendly After-Sales team is always here to help you find a great solution!
Do car radios and audio systems sold on B-Parts come with an unlock code?
No, our car radios and audio systems do not include an unlock code. Because these are original factory parts removed from salvaged vehicles, the anti-theft security code remains locked.
Don't worry, though, unlocking it is a standard process! Once your part arrives, just take your B-Parts purchase invoice and the donor vehicle's VIN (which we provide) to your local dealership or authorized brand service center. They will be able to look up and provide the unlock code for you. Please keep in mind that some car manufacturers or individual dealerships may charge a small service fee to retrieve this code.
Additionally, please note that we rarely sell fully complete radio assemblies (with the screen, control panel, buttons, and receiver/amplifier all together). For the majority of our catalog, these audio components are sold separately. To ensure you are getting exactly what you need, the specific item being sold will always be clearly indicated in the listing title!
Are there any special requirements for ECUs (Electronic Control Units) sold through B-Parts?
Yes, there are a few important steps to keep in mind when buying an ECU. Because these are original parts, the ECU is currently locked to the donor vehicle it was removed from and is not a plug-and-play component.
To install it successfully, you will need to take it to a professional who can handle the following:
Resetting the Unit: Using specialized diagnostic tools, a technician will need to clear the data to unlink it from the original vehicle.
Reprogramming: The ECU must then be coded and programmed to sync perfectly with your vehicle's computer system.
Because this requires advanced tools and expertise, this work must be performed by a professional mechanic or automotive electronics specialist. Attempting to install or program it without the proper equipment can damage the unit and will void your B-Parts warranty.
Are there any special requirements for side mirrors sold on B-Parts?
Yes, side mirrors can be tricky! When purchasing a side mirror, please keep a few important details in mind:
Check the Features: For the exact same vehicle, there can be several different mirror types that look identical on the outside but have different internal functions (like power-folding, heated glass, built-in turn signals, or blind-spot cameras).
Count the Pins/Wires: The absolute best way to check compatibility is to look at the electrical plug connector on your vehicle and count the number of pins or wires inside. The replacement mirror you purchase must have that exact same pin/wire count to work correctly.
Mirror Glass Note: Please note that only the main mirror assembly is covered under our warranty. The actual mirror glass itself is considered an accessory and is included as a courtesy.
Are there any special requirements for ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) modules sold on B-Parts?
Yes, ABS modules require a little extra care to make sure they match your vehicle perfectly! Depending on your car, the ABS module is actually made up of 2 or 3 different components, and each one has its own specific manufacturer part number:
Electronic control module
Hydraulic pump block
Electric motor (if your vehicle uses one)
When you are ordering an ABS module, just keep these important steps in mind:
Match All Part Numbers: For everything to work correctly, the part numbers for all 2 (or 3) components must be an exact match with the numbers on your old unit. If they don't match up, the system won't be able to talk to your car.
It Needs Programming: Since these are original parts, the module is currently locked to its original donor car and isn't plug-and-play. You'll just need to have a professional technician use specialized diagnostic tools to reset the module and code it to sync up with your vehicle's computer.
Keep the Unit Sealed: Because this is a highly sensitive electronic component, everything needs to be programmed through the software. Please make sure the unit isn't physically opened or disassembled, as tampering with the housing will void your B-Parts warranty.
What part of the "radio" am I actually buying?
When you see a replacement part categorized as "Audio Equipment Radio," it is highly important to understand that this is a broad industry term for your vehicle's entire entertainment system. In most cases, you are not buying the complete stereo, but rather one specific module.
To ensure you order the exact replacement you need, here is a simplified breakdown of the different component groups that fall under this category:
1. The Main Hub (Receivers & Navigation)
Receivers, Displays, and Navigation Systems: This is the "brain" of the system, typically mounted right in the center of your dashboard. These units process the audio, house the main touchscreens, capture AM/FM/GPS signals, and act as your central infotainment control.
Does it include other parts? Only partially. While basic media slots (like single CD or MP3 ports) are sometimes built directly into the main unit, separate components like CD changers, TV/DVD screens, amplifiers, speakers, and steering wheel controls are separate parts.
2. Media & Video Players
Format-Specific Media Players (CD, Cassette, MP3, DVD, & TV): These are strictly the components that read your media. Whether it is a player built into the main dash, a multi-disc CD changer tucked in the trunk, or a DVD screen for the back seat, these are dedicated playback modules.
3. Sound Output (Power & Audio)
Speakers & Amplifiers: These components are responsible for actually projecting and boosting the sound of your music and phone calls. Instead of being in the center dash, they are hidden away in the doors, inside the trunk, or mounted under the seats.
4. Physical Controls
Control Panels, & Buttons, including Rear Audio and Radio Controls: These are strictly the physical interfaces used to operate the system. This includes the main button faceplates on the dash, the radio controls built into your steering wheel, and the independent audio knobs for rear-seat passengers.
